While Roger’s primer says that revealing an opinion in a review’s introduction is optional, Siskel and Ebert usually did. And the more they loved or hated a movie, the more likely they were to get right to the point and announce it at the start of their review. For instance:

“Our next movie is named This Is Spinal Tap. I just want to start out by saying: This is a good movie. This is not only one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time, it’s also one of the smartest and most clever.”
